On July 30, 2028, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum will play host to the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games, an event organizers promise will be remembered for a long time.

Meanwhile, on August 15, SoFi Stadium, home field of the NFL's Rams and Chargers, will light up for the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games. Later that month, the focus will shift back to the Coliseum, where the Paralympics will come to an end on August 27, with a grand finale.

The stadium, steeped in collegiate football tradition as the home of the USC Trojans, will mark the conclusion of what is anticipated to be an inspiring worldwide celebration.

The Paralympic Games will be held in Los Angeles for the first time ever. The city, which has already hosted the Olympics twice with pride (1932 and 1984), will take the stage once more, this time expanding its legacy into new areas.

During the closing ceremony, Hollywood legend Tom Cruise made a daring rappel from the Stade de France's roof while holding the Olympic flag, a scene straight out of an action movie. His task? Return to Los Angeles with the Games. The flag's trip came to a conclusion at a sun-drenched beach party in Long Beach, where surfboards, music, and celebration collided with international symbolism, rather than with a customary handoff.

New venue announcements from LA28, which were released just weeks earlier, perfectly capture the laid-back vibe of Southern California while still showcasing its star-studded character. Alamitos Beach, which is tucked away against the waves in Long Beach, will serve as the venue for beach volleyball. Meanwhile, in the midst of the glitter of the Universal Studios Lot, squash, which is making its eagerly anticipated Olympic debut, will be given a cinematic welcome. There is no doubt about the message: LA28 intends to host a Games that is anything but typical.
