NaVi Ushers in New Era of CS2 Dominance with Commanding IEM Rio Victory Over MOUZ

NaVi Ushers in New Era of CS2 Dominance with Commanding IEM Rio Victory Over MOUZ

NAVI became the best CS2 team of the world after their fourth championship at IEM Rio 2024. The highest achievement of the current season cannot be argued; there is just an incredible power of adapting to even the severest adversities regardless of the following months.

Once again, they had been cornered. NAVI led 2-1 in map points before safely losing the third map even though it first two. Down 10-2 on the first map going into the fourth map Ancient, they were now on the brink of losing that previously large lead. It was truly for MOUZ’s return, which put those supporters on the edge of their seat for such an intense confrontation.

NAVI was not bothered by that loss because they turned it around and clinched the series 13-11 on map four. It was quite incredible to see a clutch of individual performances given in this fabulousLVvictory, especially from b1t and iM. Despite their NAVI’s reputation as a squad with “no stars,” the players have repeatedly displayed at most times an incredible propensity to rise to the occasion.

From the beginning of the current MOUZ roster, the impression of the team has always been that something will eventually fit into place and that they will become practically unbeatable. However, there are many issues remaining unknown when that moment will come to pass after such a decisive defeat. They are undoubtedly strong opponents because this team or at least most of them managed to reach the IEM Rio 2024 Grand final. Unfortunately for MOUZ it couldn’t increase the amount of silverware that the team acquired once more.

The crucial fact that during this tournament MOUZ has obviously played better does not make this defeat more pleasant. It’s just not acceptable according to them that they will just throw away a big lead of 10-2 on the map of fourth one when they were having the halftime break. One cannot lose sight of the fact that this series should have moved on to a critical fifth map. Even though we recognize these players' potential for success in CS:GO, perhaps it is high time to discuss the rather uncomfortable thought that their victories are not earned by cooperating in a united team. This roster can unquestionably be described as being under a cloud of disappointment at this critical time.

NaVi won the IEM Rio thus extending their streak after the Copenhagen Major was won on subsequent occasions. They have only made it to the S-tier event playoffs twice since March and that too they have failed to qualify. When they do, however, get to the postseason, they always secure a spot in the tournament championship game.

"I'm surprised at how well we are developing as a team, we came in at different levels of understanding," jL said to the panel after the game. "We're keeping a steady pace of improving and this is really nice. No one is slacking, everyone is putting in the work."

The two squads will not be able to rest for long because in two weeks, they will be flying to Singapore for the BLAST World Final, and after that, they will go to China for the Shanghai Major event.
