Pacers Punch Ticket to NBA Finals for First Time in 25 Years with Game 6 Win Over Knicks

Pacers Punch Ticket to NBA Finals for First Time in 25 Years with Game 6 Win Over Knicks

The Indiana Pacers defeated the New York Knicks 125-108 in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals, securing their first trip to the NBA Finals in 25 years. The victory, which was obtained in front of a boisterous home crowd at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, ended the series 4–2 and was only the second time in the Pacers' history that they would compete for the NBA championship.

Throughout the series, Indiana was led by Pascal Siakam, who averaged 24.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.5 assists while shooting more than 52% from the field. Siakam's impressive performance, which included 31 points on 11 of 18 shooting, earned him the Larry Bird Trophy as the Eastern Conference Finals MVP. Against a tenacious Knicks team, his seasoned leadership and effective scoring allowed the Pacers to hold onto the series.

Tyrese Haliburton, who finished with 21 points and 13 assists, was also vital in the victory in Game 6. Eleven of those points, including two crucial three-pointers that helped put an end to any possible Knicks comeback, came from Haliburton in the fourth quarter. His foresight, command of the pace, and ability to perform under pressure have been essential to Indiana's postseason success.

Obi Toppin, who finished with 18 points and 6 rebounds, was a spark off the bench. His vigor and adaptability were crucial in helping Indiana increase their lead in the second half. By forcing 17 turnovers and successfully stifling the Knicks' offensive flow, the Pacers' defense also performed admirably.

The night was a frustrating one for the Knicks. The team's mainstay during the postseason, Jalen Brunson, was only able to score 19 points and had trouble being effective. With 24 and 22 points, respectively, OG Anunoby and Karl-Anthony Towns attempted to keep New York afloat, but their efforts were insufficient to overcome Indiana's strong defense and well-rounded assault.

The Pacers' victory puts them in position to play the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2025 NBA Finals, a matchup that few had anticipated at the beginning of the season. With their youthful cores, astute coaching, and selfless basketball, both teams have exceeded expectations. With Game 1 of the Finals slated for Thursday, a new champion will be crowned in a postseason characterized by surprises and standout performances.
