Pacers Upset Cavaliers in Game 1 of Eastern Conference Semifinals
Indiana Pacers defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers, who were ranked first, 121–112 on Sunday night. Six Pacers scored in double digits thanks to a well-balanced offensive onslaught led by Tyrese Haliburton, who finished with 22 points and 13 assists. Aaron Nesmith and Pascal Siakam each scored 17 points, while Andrew Nembhard scored 23. Indiana's ability to shoot well from beyond the arc was crucial; they made 19 of 36 three-point tries, or 52.8% of the total.
The Cavaliers had trouble finding offensive rhythm after losing All-Star guard Darius Garland to a toe injury. Despite Donovan Mitchell's 33 points, Cleveland's shooting problems, especially from three-point range (9 of 38, 23.7%), made it difficult for them to score. The Pacers took advantage of these difficulties and won the game with a commanding 20–10 run in the closing minutes.
Warriors Advance After Game 7 Victory Over Rockets
The Golden State Warriors defeated the Houston Rockets 103-89 in a deciding Game 7 to capture the Western Conference. Buddy Hield scored 33 points to lead the Warriors, including a game-high nine three-pointers in Game 7. The victory was sealed in the fourth quarter when Stephen Curry came alive with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists.
Despite a strong effort, the Rockets were hindered by the Warriors' defensive adjustments and erratic shooting. Alperen Şengün scored 21 points and pulled down 14 rebounds, while Amen Thompson led Houston with 24 points and nine rebounds. But the team's 40.5% shooting percentage overall and paint-related problems proved to be costly.
The Pacers will try to continue their winning streak against the Cavaliers in Game 2, while the Warriors will play the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference playoffs. As the race for the NBA championship goes on, fans can expect more exciting postseason action.
